Why We Built CaterCaptain for Gujarat First (and What That Means for You)

The Idea Behind CaterCaptain
Most software for caterers is built far from any actual kitchen - global products that assume drop-off catering and card payments, or generic restaurant POS stretched over an industry it doesn't understand. We took the opposite bet: build deep for one place first. Here's the reasoning, openly.

Why does language matter in catering software?

Every failed software story in catering ends the same way: the owner loved the dashboard, the team went back to the notebook. Adoption is decided at the kitchen and store level - by people who are excellent at their jobs and entirely uninterested in fighting an English-only interface. That's why CaterCaptain is bilingual to its bones: screens, material names (બાસમતી ચોખા next to Basmati Rice), the flows a storekeeper touches daily. Language isn't a feature checkbox; it's the difference between a tool and shelf-ware.

Because dispatch is where Indian catering actually breaks

Global tools centre on orders and calendars. But talk to any multi-kitchen Gujarat caterer and the wound is always the same: what left HQ, what reached the kitchen, who's responsible for the gap. So we built the request → approve → dispatch → receive loop as the spine of the product - with batches, vehicles, drivers and a timestamped timeline - because that's the argument-ender this industry has needed for decades.

Because events here aren't "an event"

A Gujarati wedding is a multi-day arc of services, each with its own guest count, menu and staffing. Per-plate mathematics, service-wise planning, staff roles from head cook to helper with per-day rates - the product models catering the way it's actually practised here, not the way a foreign template imagines it.

Because trust is earned with honest labels

Our pricing is inclusive of GST - the number you see is the number you pay. Features that aren't shipped are labelled "coming soon," not sold as current. Your rates, menus and margins are never visible to any other caterer. And the ₹999 first month with a 30-day money-back guarantee on plans exists because we'd rather earn renewals than lock anyone in. These aren't marketing lines; they're the operating rules of a company that lives in the same city as its customers.

What Gujarat-first means if you're elsewhere

Caterers from Rajasthan, MP and Maharashtra already reach out, and the product works the same anywhere - remote onboarding over WhatsApp video, bilingual interface, identical features. Gujarat-first was never Gujarat-only; it was a promise about depth: master one catering culture completely, then expand from strength rather than shallowness.
